As Bali wedding photographer I have the wonderful opportunity to witness weddings of all sizes, shapes and cultures. And it never ceases to amaze me how different weddings can be. From quite a few previous Chinese weddings I knew that they like to have fun and do games and stuff… The wedding of Vivian & Jacky was indeed one with lots of fun and laughter. That is why I have termed it a ‘fun-tastic’ wedding.

It all started even before the official parts commenced. There was lots of giggling going on in the bride’s chamber where the ladies were getting ready. And an equally relaxed mood where the gentlemen had their preparations. Then during the morning several games were carried out. The highlight being when the groom’s men had to get into bikinis… I felt sorry for the bride who could not be part of this as she was awaiting the groom up in her chamber.

Then when the groom was about to pick up the bride there was again heaps of laughter and fun. What followed was a tea ceremony where the couple paid their respects to their families.  This concluded the first part of the wedding. It was fun, but a bit exhausting – so I was glad that I had longer break.

I returned mid-afternoon where the preparations for the ceremony and the evening were in full swing. What a fantastic setting. The ceremony was to take place on the villas lawn – with a fantastic view overlooking the ocean. The altar was set upon an Infinity pool. The weather was also perfect. All this combined provided for a truly regal setting. The blessings for the couple were performed by one of their dear friends. After the ceremony concluded two doves and balloons were released into the deep blue afternoon sky. The remainder of that late afternoon was then for photos – both family & friend photographs as well as a portrait session with the couple around the villa’s compound.

The reception also had a lot going on. It started with a Balinese dance performance, shortly after sunset.  Then the bridal party, followed by the newlyweds made their entrance. The couple took lots of opportunities to visit all the tables and again had lots of laughs with family and friends. Several of the couple’s friends and family paid tribute to then in the form of musical performance. Out which certainly the performance of the bride’s father was the absolute highlight.

Later on there was a spectacular fire dance performance. The whole party continued on well into the late hours.
