• Welcome to Bali Wedding Photo blog !

A few words about me and my approach as wedding photographer, if I may: I have been a Bali Wedding Photographer for over eight years and have been documenting in excess of 300 Bali destination weddings for couples from across the world. For me wedding photography in Bali is not a profession, but a calling driven by an innate curiosity for what lies beyond the obvious. I am passionate about wedding photography and believe in the power of the enduring still image in our fast paced world where the emphasis is on immediacy. An intimate photograph stops time and allows you to reflect, to relive a moment and above all: TO FEEL. I am consumed with a desire to be an eye witness to the diversity of human emotions and to record all the defining moments of your wedding in Bali. I do so with empathy and honesty. I harness the story-telling power of wedding photo journalism by highlighting your own individuality and through meticulous attention to details. Some people have asked how could I have made such compelling and engaging photographs – my answer is: how could I not…

Bali Prewedding photos

Bali Prewedding photos

Beside the lovely Bali Prewedding photos itself the most special part of this shoot was that this was for me a first timer. For the first time in my career I had the privilege to serve a client from Burma / Myanmar. Although I have been living and working for over 25 years in South East Asia I never met anyone from this enchanting country. So naturally I was excited to do Bali Prewedding photos for this lovely couple. They asked me for most of their photos to be taken close to the sea. And their wish was my command. For these Bali Prewedding photos we visited several beautiful beaches during various periods of the day. That allowed to create a great variation of Bali Prewedding photos at the ocean. Of course we also visited some other locations as well. Overall it was a very natural, non posed shoots. Just as the couple had requested for their Bali Prewedding photos.

During the shoot they changed their dresses 3 times, which further contributed to a very mixed set of Bali Prewedding photos. That was made possible because all the locations we visited were no more than 10 minutes’ drive from my studio. The weather was very agreeable and during the late afternoon hours we were bless with a very warm, golden light. Also the sunset photos, which were again taken close to the sea, turned out very well.

Of course I had lots of questions to my new Burmese friends, which he patiently answered. Say, I hope you did not mind my questions but I am very curious about your country which I hope to visit in the near future.

Thank you guys so much for this lovely opportunity to work with you and to do those Bali Prewedding photos. I hope to catch up again with you soon for a drink in Rangoon.

Here are my personal favorites of this magnificent photo shoot:

Sai, what can I say ? I feel humbled by your lovely testimonial. I am very glad to hear that you not only like the photographs, but that you also enjoyed the experience during the photoshoot. I am particularly pleased this coming from a man, because for many men doing a photoshoot is more something they ‘endure’ for their fiances, wifes…
I sincerely hope that our paths will cross again some time in the future. And I wish you and Jen all the very best.

When my wife(fiance back then)was looking around for our Bali honeymoon photo, her wish was to get out wedding pictures taken in Bali with the best. I was excited to a certain degree. But man, after a day…I wish we could have booked for 2 days…I just want to compliment the service and professionalism of Dominik and his team. They picked us up from our hotel in Nusa Dua (I think). The photo shoot was excellent! We hired a guide to go around Bali before our photo shoot but the places Dominik took us, were amazing, we would have never been to places from our guides and tour book.

It was more than great working with Dominik and his team, just after a few mins of shaking hands, we felt like we ve been friends for years. By the way, this guy lives in the most wonderful place, a unique entrance.

I am from Burma/Myanmar and My wife is from Honolulu. So I wasn’t keen on taken pictures by the paddy fields. But when I saw the road side, paddy field. Burma is pretty in its own right but a combination of the sunset and a touch from this guy…Needless to say what next. Another lovely memories, my wife lost shoe just before we walked into the paddy field to catch a sunset, one random Balinese lady offer her slipper to my wife, such a wonderful act of kindness…you wont find anywhere else in the world.
The photos are amazing. The experience was positively unforgettable, Bali will stay with us forever and within it, one day photo shoot with Dominik will be imprinted in our memories.

Thank you for all and thanks for the beer at the end of the day. Just let us know, when will you be in town in Yangon, the drinks are on us !!!! Aloha and Mingalarbar !!!!

Bali engagement photography

Bali engagement photography

Being or getting engaged is for most couples a very special time of their live. So it comes without surprised that many couples come to our magical island for their Bali engagement photography. And I love this kind of shoots. Increasingly there are couples coming from China. I love to work with Chinese couples from China. That is because they truly appreciate the beauty of Bali and its enchanting environment. And it also gives me some opportunity to polish up and practice my Chinese. This lovely couple wanted to have nature as their main theme for their pre wedding pictures.

So we went to some truly beautiful locations,, which included beaches, forests, rice terraces and much more. The light and the overall conditions were perfect. I especially love those photographs taken in the late afternoon where I shot into this golden light. And my absolute favorite image is the one of the two under this old tree. I consider it to be one of my best ever engagement pictures.

The crowning part for their pre wedding pictures were the sunset pictures. We also prepared some pyro techniques to emphasize on the heat of love and passion among these two. I had a great time working with them during this photo shoot.

Thank you so much guys for this lovely photo shoot. I look forward to many more clients from China and beyond for more Bali pre wedding photography. Please see my favorites in the following:

Bayuh Sabbha Wedding

Chantele & Strodie – a Bayuh Sabbha Wedding

bayuh sabbha wedding photos

From the outset it was obvious that for Chantele the wedding photographs of her Bali wedding were most important. She had contacted me even before she appointed a wedding planner and/or her venue. She had a few venues singled out and I advised her on what may suite her best. She ended up choosing a Bayuh Sabbha Wedding in Bali’s Uluwatu area. I also gave my inputs as to what would be the best schedule for the various events of the day and when would be the best light.

Chantele and her lovely bridesmaids were getting ready in the main villa of the property, whereas Strodie and the gentlemen were still chilling at the pool, while enjoying one of Bali’s most spectacular vistas. By the time the guests arrived the venue was beautifully decorated. And all was set for a perfect Bali villa wedding.

All the conditions for this Bayuh Sabbha Wedding were simply ideal. Clear blue sky, a slight breeze a lovely crowd and a beautifully decorated venue. The proceedings went ultra-smooth, resulting in what I would call a dream wedding. In-between the ceremony and the reception dinner we also had enough time to take some fun-filled portraits of the couple and the bridal party. There were plenty of nice spots on the villa’s compound for taking couple portraits. And the late afternoon sun provided a gorgeous golden light for the photos. Shortly before the dinner commenced we had some sunset photos at the pool area with a sea of candles floating on the pool. Always a highlight of any Bayuh Sabbha Wedding.

The reception dinner was rather casual and relaxed – just as Strodie & Chantele had envisioned it. A live-band played contemporary tunes while the guests were enjoying the various culinary delights. There were of course also the obligatory speeches, a cake cutting and Strodie & Chantele’s fabulous first dance. I left this outstanding Bayuh Sabbha Wedding once the crowds hit the dance floor.

I leave you now with my favorite impressions of this fantastic event that was Chantele’ and Strodie’s Bali Bayuh Sabbha Wedding:
